Richard Spanton Jr & Chrissie Spanton
Rich and his wife Chrissie met in Columbus Ohio in 2003 and got married in 2007. "I knew the first day I saw him that I was going to marry him", said Chrissie.
Rich and Chrissie traveled with his company together for several years until Rich bought their farm in 2005. Rich and Chrissie did not get to move to the farm until 2006, then in the summer of 2006 they began the renovations at their bed & breakfast Copperstone Inn.

Chrissie and Richard Spanton Jr Start Copperstone Inn
Richard Spanton Jr. started a project back in July of 2006 with his then fiancée and current wife Chrissie, which is now known as the Copperstone Inn. The inn was originally an old limestone farm house that was built in 1858 with an addition built in the early 20th century. Richard Spanton Jr. started a long course of hard work with his wife Chrissie two years ago, and in that time they have learned a lot. For Rich, this has meant learning to be patient. The hard work and edification has paid off, though, as the project is nearing completion.
The journey began when Richard Spanton Jr. and his wife Chrissie dreamed of having their own farm where they could raise their future children and grow old together. Chrissie and Rich. are both in their early thirties and own a construction company, Mastercraft Exteriors, which specializes in roofing, siding and gutters. Rich suggested to his wife that they buy a home with 60 acres of land in his hometown of Rockton, Illinois back in 2005. This was just the beginning, as now the couple’s parcel of land spans 130 acres.
Chrissie and Rich had an original goal of starting an apple orchard, pumpkin patch and ranch with alpaca and horses. They succeeded in this goal, but a side project took much of their attention when Richard Spanton Jr. saw a charming limestone home on the property next door. He mentioned to Chrissie that if it ever went up for sale that they should try to buy it, and next week they saw the “For Sale by Owner” sign, which was earlier than they thought. Not wanting to miss such an opportunity, though, Rich found a way to buy the property.
It didn’t take long for Richard Spanton Jr to realize that he wanted to renovate the old limestone home on his new property next door to his home, and soon after they decided an inn was a great idea, so he and his wife got started on the work that continues today.
